Welcoming Delegates from Swansea University and Enserv Power Company

On November 2, 2023, the Faculty of Science, under the leadership of the Associate Dean for Administration, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Innovation and Enterprise, the Assistant Dean for International Relations and Public Communication, and faculty lecturers from the Department of Physics, warmly welcomed distinguished guests from Swansea University, United Kingdom. The delegation was led by Professor Serena Margadonna, Chair in Materials Engineering, and representatives from Enserv Power Company, headed by Mr. Thanachat Pochana, Executive Chairman of Enserv Power.

The gathering took place at Wittayavipas Room 2, located in the Wittayavipas Building, SC09, within the Faculty of Science. This collaborative meeting served as a platform for meaningful discussions and exchanges of ideas between the academic and corporate sectors. The event highlighted the commitment of both institutions to fostering partnerships and exploring avenues for collaborative research, innovation, and international engagement.

During the discussions on that day, the participants engaged in conversations about fostering collaboration not only within the Faculty but also through partnerships with foreign educational institutions and establishments. The purpose of these dialogues was to strategize and plan forthcoming collaborative initiatives. The proposed areas of cooperation encompass staff exchange, student exchange, and internships, research collaborations, industry partnerships, webinars, and symposiums, and the development of cooperation agreements (MOUs), among others.

Swansea University, established in 1920, stands as a distinguished institution known for its research excellence. Situated against the backdrop of the picturesque Welsh landscape, the university combines the allure of a diverse cultural hub with the convenience of big city amenities. The institution has cultivated a longstanding tradition of collaboration with numerous businesses and industries, showcasing its dedication to bridging academia and practical application.

Comprising a total of eight faculties such as the College of Engineering, College of Arts and Humanities, College of Human and Health Sciences, College of Science, Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law, School of Management, Swansea University Medical School, and The College, Swansea University. Each faculty contributes to the university’s reputation for academic excellence and innovation. This legacy of research prowess and interdisciplinary collaboration positions Swansea University as a leader in the global academic landscape.

Furthermore, Mr. Thanachat Pochana delivered a presentation on behalf of Enserv Power Co., Ltd., a prominent company specializing in electricity production and renewable energy in Thailand. The company’s overarching objective is to spearhead sustainable innovations for the betterment of humanity. One notable initiative highlighted in the presentation is the development of health-conscious food products, known as Enserv Miracle Food (EMF), incorporating an environmentally friendly food concept.

During the upcoming period, Associate Professor Dr. Nonglak Meethong and Dr. Orapa Thamwattana from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, actively engaged in discussions concerning collaborative initiatives in materials science and nanotechnology.

In the afternoon session, the group undertook a visit to the Li-ion Battery Pilot Plant of Khon Kaen University.

These deliberations signify the initiation of positive relationships between faculties, universities, and business establishments. The participants express confidence that this collaborative effort will pave the way for mutually beneficial activities in the near future.
