Prepare to Arrive 

Once you have been pre-approved for you COE, you should apply for Non-Immigrant Visa “ED”. The embassy will contact the suucessful applicant to apply for a visa.

Non-Immigrant Visa Type “ED” may be granted to applicants who wish to pursue their full-time education, internship or any other educational programme in Thailand. The visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue. Visa holders may contact the Immigration Bureau of Thailand, after entering Thailand, for the extension of stay and re-entry permit.

1. Visa Application form(s) and photograph(s)
2. Passport (valid for no less than 6 months)
3. Original acceptance letter from the school, training institution or company in Thailand, in this case from Khon Kaen University
4. Police Record issued by the country of residence (the Police Record must be in English and issued within one month)
5. Application fee

Reporting

The Non-immigrant (ED) visa or official visa is the type of visa that students need to hold before studying at KKU. This visa is valid for 90 days counting from the first date of entry in Thailand. Afterward, students can extend the visa for one year until their studies finish. The date of the “Valid Until” on your Non-immigrant (ED) visa or official visa is the date that you should enter Thailand before. It is not the current visa expiry date.

If you have to leave Thailand with intension of returning, you must apply for a re-entry permit. Otherwise, your current visa will expire immediately.

Required Documents:

1. Original passport
2. TM. 8 Form (available at the immigration)
3. One photograph
4. Fee of 1,000 Baht for single entry or 3,800 Baht for Multiple entries within the period of your current visa.

Note: Please apply for re-entry permit one month in advance at any immigration in Thailand.

All foreigners who have been granted a Non-Immirgration Visa for a temporary stay in Thailand and intend to stay longer than 90 days must report every 90 days at Khon Kaen immiration.

Required Documents:

1. Original passport =
2. TM.47 Form (Avaliable at the immigration)
3. A receipt of the 90-day notification (if applicable)

Note: You can make the notification directly in person at Khon Kaen University. The 90-day report must be made 15 days before or 7 days after the  notification date.

1. The student submits the visa extension request form and submits it along with the required documents to the Faculty Science via this link.

Required documents:

Copy of Passport
Copy of Student ID
Copy of Health Insurance
Transcript/Grade result

2. Faculty submits documents to IAD. The faculty issues the memo along with student’s documents and submits it to International Affairs Division.

3. VISA Extension Letter

• IAD checks documents and if there are incomplete documents, IAD contacts the faculty to submit additional documents.
• IAD issues a letter and it takes about 3-5 working days.
• IAD sends documents to the faculty.

4. The student receives documents from Faculty.

After receiving documents from the faculty, the student has to prepare documents for making the VISA Extension request at Khon Kaen Immigration (At Khon Kaen Bus Terminal 3) with these required documents.

2. TM.7 Form (available at the Immigration)
3. Original Passport / Visa
4. Copy of all pages of the Passport
5. Copy of expired date of Visa
6. Copy of Transcript
7. Copy of Student ID
8. One Photograph

For the international students who received ASEAN GMS scholarship. These are documents that you need to prepare to get the tuition fee paid.

1. Invoice document
2. Copy of student card (signed)
3. Copy of passport (signed)
4. Copy of Bank Account (signed)

This requirement ensures that students have access to necessary healthcare services and financial protection in case of any medical emergencies or healthcare needs.

There are two options for obtaining health insurance coverage. The first option is to purchase health insurance in your home country that meets the required criteria set by Khon Kaen University. It is essential to carefully review the terms and conditions of the insurance policy to ensure that it provides coverage in Thailand and meets the university’s requirements.

The second option is to purchase health insurance in Thailand once you arrive at KKU. There are insurance providers in Thailand that offer specific health insurance plans for international students. These plans are designed to meet the university’s requirements and provide coverage within Thailand.
