World institution ranking by SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is done every year, placing universities, research institutions, governmental and private organizations of the world in the order of performances. The criteria are based on three indicators, each with the designated weights, namely: (1) Research Factor – 50%, by considering the number of publications and SCOPUS citations; (2) Innovation Factor – 30%, by considering the number of intellectual property in the PATSTAT database; and (3) Societal Factor – 20%. In 2023, Khon Kaen University is placed the first in Thailand for the field of Physics and Astronomy.
