
On 27 January 2026, the Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Angkana Boonyued, Dean of the Faculty of Science, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wuttichai Srisodaphol, Assistant Dean for Administration, and Dr. Sukhum Ruangchai, Assistant Dean for International Affairs and Public Communications, welcomed visiting scholars for a discussion on academic collaboration. The delegation included Prof. Dr. Sanghoo Yoon, Director of the G-LAMP Research Institute and Vice Dean of the College of Natural Sciences, Chonnam National University (CNU), Republic of Korea; Prof. Dr. Nader Tajvidi from Lund University, Sweden, who is currently serving as a visiting professor at Mahasarakham University; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyapat Busababodin from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Mahasarakham University. The discussion focused on various aspects of cooperation in statistics, particularly joint research activities and the development of collaboration agreements to support future joint research projects.
Following the meeting with the Faculty’s executive team, Prof. Dr. Sanghoo Yoon, together with his postdoctoral researcher, graduate and undergraduate students, and an administrative coordinator from CNU, visited the Department of Statistics to further discuss academic collaboration. During the visit, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Ruangsuwan, Head of the Department, along with the Department’s faculty members, presented an overview of the Department. Prof. Dr. Sanghoo Yoon also introduced the G-LAMP Research Institute, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyapat Busababodin introduced Mahasarakham University as one of the institutions participating in the discussions. The proposed areas of future collaboration cover a wide range of activities, including curriculum-level cooperation, research development, and joint research publications. The participants also presented the scope and expertise of each faculty member, such as main research areas, ongoing research topics, and experience in international collaborative research. In addition, after the meeting, the visitors had the opportunity to tour the Khon Kaen University campus to become more familiar with the university and its facilities.
On 28 January 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr. Angkana Boonyued, Dean of the Faculty of Science, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pimwadee Pornpongrungrueng, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wuttichai Srisodaphol, Assistant Dean for Administration, Dr. Sukhum Ruangchai, Assistant Dean for International Affairs and Public Communications, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Ruangsuwan, Head of the Department of Statistics, along with faculty members including Asst. Prof. Dr. Phalakotn Seenoi and Dr. Thanawan Prahadchai (a CNU alumnus who completed her doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sanghoo Yoon), held further discussions with the CNU delegation to establish formal academic collaboration between the Faculty of Science and the G-LAMP Research Institute, CNU, as well as between the Faculty of Science and the College of Natural Sciences, CNU. The future agreements are expected to cover cooperation in research as well as staff and student exchange.
This visit marks an important first step toward concrete academic collaboration with Chonnam National University, a leading university in the Republic of Korea with strong performance in education, research, and academic services. The initiative aligns with the three core missions of the Faculty of Science and supports Khon Kaen University’s vision of advancing toward greater internationalization in the future.
