Phrathat Kham Kaen
Located 25 km from the city of Khon Kaen, the 10-metre “Phrathat” is regarded as Khon Kaen’s most sacred pagoda. Constructed in the Lan Xang style, Phrathat Kham Kaen features a wide base shaped like an inverted lotus. The top is adorned with a gold tiered umbrella. To its east, is the old ordination hall, known in the local Isan dialect as “sim”. Isan-style sims were widespread throughout Thailand’s northeast several decades ago. However, because of their small size, most of them were demolished to make way for the bigger ordination hall, usually constructed in the Central Thai style.
Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon
The nine-level pagoda is located inside Wat Nong Waeng, less than 3 km from the venue of SPC2025. The temple is regularly frequented by Buddhists and visitors alike. The pagoda accommodates different activities of the visitors – be it merit making, learning the history of Khon Kaen through wall paintings, getting to know traditional dos and don’ts based on Isan’s folklore, or enjoying a great view of the city of Khon Kaen from the top of Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon.

According to its Facebook page, the brewery is “Thailand’s first in-house hotel mini brewery run by a German brewmaster”. Here you “can sit back and enjoy a live band in a laid-back atmosphere serving homebrewed beer along with European cuisine”. Simply descend down the lift or the stairs from the venue for one of Khon Kaen’s most famous homebrewed beers.
